This Week on #ForTheFirstTime - Amit Trivedi Live @ Pune!
I recently went to my very first concert out of Mumbai (!!!!).....with my mom.....
(yes i was able to make things uncool within a minute)
But it was an amazing experience!
My mother received free tickets and like the Gujjus we are, we decided to take off to Pune to redeem them. I've heard of Amit Trivedi, as has almost everyone, but he is one of the low key artists of our country, who shy away from publicity and speculation.
We only knew him by his music, and that was more than enough to get us to travel four hours for it.
We caught the Ahmedabad Express and within a couple of hours, there we were!
We arrived at around 5 in the evening. As we got off the train into the sunny evening, we lugged our bags onto the footpath curb to wait for our Uber. (POOL IS EVERYTHING)
Within a couple of minutes, we were in the hotel, settling in. However, we didn't have much time to rest before the performance, and so we took off again towards Phoenix Market City.
(sidenote: I take it as a personal offence that the H&M is bigger here than in Mumbai)
We walked around the mall for a while, up till about 8pm, after which, the artists arrived. So we ran to our VIP (ahem, ahem) seats.
The anchors of the event spent some of the longest moments of my life talking about their sponsors, Finally, as they announced Amit Trivedi on the stage, the crowd went berserk.
As he started performing, I could feel the momentum building through the small central area of the mall. Along with him, on tour, were 4 INCREDIBLE artists - Divya Kumar, Jonita Gandhi, Yashita Sharma and Arun Haridas Kamath.
This particular performance came to me as a surprise because of how beautifully managed it was! Every artist was ridiculously well talented and equally charged with songs and parts in the show. With a gorgeously assembled band accompanying them and the amazing vocals of the singers, the atmosphere in the Liberty Square was electric! We never realized how quickly 3 hours passed. The artists were the most energetic I've seen yet and even after such a great performance, they were only too glad to interact with fans. The entire area resonated with Trivedi's best songs, ranging from Shubhaarambh to Nayan Tarse. With stellar vocals and dance moves that endeared them to us only more, it was a great time. My mom is really touchy about what she listens to, and it is saying something that she LOST HER FREAKING MIND at the concert.
Have you ever seen you mother bypass security and leap over a small fence in a skirt to go meet a singer, also while leaving you all alone in an unknown city without a mobile phone?
It is equal parts hilarious and terrifying.
Anyway, we finished off with the concert and returned to the hotel exhausted. After badgering the room service into getting us a decent meal at 12, we passed out in our beds.
Overall, one of the best concerts I've been to.
Anyone who's reading this (unlikely af ehehe), DO NOT MISS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO FOR AMIT TRIVEDI LIVE WHEN THEY'RE IN YOUR TOWN!
